THE FULL STORY
Hi, I'm David Garcia, an innovative Packaging Engineer based in Milpitas, California. I have over four years of experience designing and implementing advanced packaging solutions across various industries, including food, medical, tech, and automotive sectors. My journey in packaging engineering began with a B.S. in Packaging Engineering from San Jose State University, and I recently completed my M.S. in Engineering, Sustainability, & Health from the University of San Diego.
Throughout my career, I've honed my skills in CAD software, particularly Solidworks and AutoCAD, and developed a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to industry standards. I've had the opportunity to define packaging requirements, collaborate with suppliers, and manage projects from conception to launch. My work at Westpak as a Packaging Test Engineer I involved simulating shipping hazards and delivering data analysis that led to successful packaging redesigns. I also implemented sustainable practices to reduce material costs and single-use plastic waste, which is something I'm very passionate about.
Currently, I'm working as a Materials Engineer with Waste for Life, where I lead initiatives to address plastic pollution in the Tijuana River. This project has allowed me to collaborate with local communities, create sustainable solutions, and foster international relationships. It's incredibly rewarding to see the tangible impact of our efforts, from reducing plastic pollution to creating income streams for local residents.
I am always looking to stay updated with the latest packaging technology trends and industry regulations, and I'm excited to leverage my expertise and education to develop cutting-edge packaging solutions. Whether it's optimizing design, improving quality, or enhancing cost efficiency, I thrive on the challenges and opportunities this field offers.
